Vietnamese mossy frogs seem like a clump of moss due to their green tint, black markings, and visible tubercules and spines. They lurk in water basins found in fissures, only their eyes emerging to keep a close eye on their surroundings. As a result, they are nearly impossible to see while sitting still. These tree frogs have adhesive toe pads and are capable of jumping. Males have a prominent breeding callus at the base of their inside fingers.
Mossy frogs hunt large insects such as crickets and cockroaches. At the Smithsonian’s National Zoo, they eat a diet of crickets, cockroaches and earthworms.
